As a small branch we do not hold regular meetings, but gather for lunch or dinner on occasion to plan upcoming events. We hold a luncheon in the spring where we award a scholarship to a local woman who is returning to college. In October we co-sponsor the Candidates’ Meeting for the public with the Civic Improvement Club and the Ladies Community Club. These meetings allow time for candidates to mingle with voters over refreshments following the formal portion of the meeting. Invitations were extended to candidates for Utah State offices, Utah Legislature, US House of Representatives, US Senate, Box Elder County Commission and Board of Education. This year’s meeting was held October 19th.

The 2014 Candidates meeting was very successful. Below is a thank you from Donna McAleer, the Democratic candidate for the US House of Representatives along with pictures from that very successful event.

A message from Donna McAleer for Congress:

A warm thank you to Sarah Yates and the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Civic Improvement Club and Ladies Community Club of Brigham City for hosting a Candidate Evening last night at Brigham City Community Center. More than a dozen candidates for Utah state offices, Utah Legislature, US House of Representatives, Box Elder County Commission, State Board of Education and Box Elder Board of Education all participated in the forum. The Club Scouts and Boy Scouts presented the colors and led the Pledge of Allegiance. I appreciate all the Box Elder, Weber, and Cache County citizens who attended and asked thoughtful questions. This is what democracy is all about–active participation in learning about issues, candidate positions and becoming an informed voter. Sitting next to each other, Congressman Bishop and I, while differing on many issues, shared a few laughs and a selfie.
